Ela sempre mirando a cámara. Estática. Sempre no cadro. Quen facía as fotos? Quen miraba?
In my image conservationism process and working with the discards, I found another infatuation along the way. During the investigation of the film “I Can’t See you”, came into my hands a batch of photographs at an auction for 2 Euros.
The photographs consisted of images of a woman traveling the world over many years. She’s always looking at the camera. Static. Always in the frame. Who was taking the pictures? Who was watching?
In that progression, in that confinement to bed due to the passing of the years, a gesture appears: to photograph the pigeons perched on the balcony of her flat.
We filmed the shot knowing that it had no place in the montage of “I Can’t See You,” but with the certainty that what was in the photographs had a unitary entity.
